As you know Halloween it´s a very popular event in USA,and Malta as well as Anglo-Saxon country that is this event is popular here too.

All this despite having to compete with the feast day of Jum il-Qaddisin Kolha and the Jum l-Erwieh;these are two days after Halloween,although in reality are somewhat related.

The streets are filled with people dressed,above all kids.The previous days you can see a costume environment especially in schools and people buying costumes in stores.

Many events are held these day in Malta,for example in 2010 was a Halloween exhibition of carved pumpkin which was in the Waterfront in Valletta.A good number of artists took part in the Carve-a-Pumpkin National Contest and all Jack-Ó-Lanterns,as the caved pumpkins are also known,were displayed at the Magazino,attracting a sizeable crowd of viewers.

The day of Halloween is closely linked to the orange,black,purple colours and symbols as the jack-ó-lantern.Apart from the already well-known trick or treating and the custom of dressing in costume,Halloween is associated with the apple harvest each year,is why it´s very common that day eating candy aplles.

In Malta the party´s Halloween night is one the most popular of the year and one to which most attracts people.In Paceville and around you will find a different Halloween party in each of his multitude of clubs and you will see all kinds of costume and people.

So you know,enjoy this magical night,don´t let the evil spirits will disturb you,savor a sweet candy apple,dance to bring the dead spirits back yo beyond and be careful with witches,vampires and other monsters!!

               ROLEX MIDDLE SEA RACE 2013 

Saturday will start the 34th edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race in Malta departing.The depart is scheduled for the day 19 October at 11:00 a.m. in Valletta.

This race is the most prestigious international event in Malta and thousands of people will be watching the start.The event will be televised live on Maltese Television and will have a huge worldwide audience.

109 yatchs from 18 different countries are going to compete at the 2013 Rolex Middle Sea Race,surparssing the record of last year´s participants.

The duration of the race is 8 days,beginning on day 19 and ending on the 26th with the trophy and awards delivery the same day.

This race was founded in 1968 by the Royal Malta Yatch Club and the Royal Ocean Racing Club.The Rolex Middle Sea Race has an attractive yet hard journey of 606 nautical miles,the output is from the spectacular Grand Harbour of Valletta.

 

Initiate the test vessels along the bastiones of St. Angelo.From there,take a drive north along the eastern coast of Sicily to the Strait of Messina from where you have a magnificient view of Etna.The route continues towards the Aeolian islands and then heads west to the Aegadian islands,subsequently reaching the islands of Lampedusa and Pantelleria.At this point being the return to Malta,through the Comino Channel to end at the port of Marsamxett.

                  El Hollywood  Mediterráneo

 

Cuando llega a nuestros oídos la palabra Malta,¿que es lo más rapido que se nos viene a la mente?Playas de agua cristalina,clima típico mediterráneo,conocida vida nocturna,relax,turismo,etc......!!!Pero no es lo único que tiene este país!!!Desde hace unos años se ha convertido en un lugar muy solicitado por grandes directores de cine para rodar allí sus producciones.

Esto es debio a que Malta tiene una multitud de paisajes variados,tiene ciudades como La Valletta que tiene miles de años de antiguedad y mucha historia y es ideal por ejemplo para rodar peliculas de la época antigua o medieval,incluso de la renacentista.Tiene además muchas pequeñas bahías y golfos y es ideal para recrear películas de temática marítima o de navegación,que es una de las temáticas cinematrográficas con mas campo.

Su industria cinematográfica nació en los años 50 y a partir de ahí no ha parado de crecer.Muchos grandes directores han rodado aquí sus películas íntegramente o en parte.

 

Aquí se rodo gran parte de la famosa película Troya,usando la fortaleza de Valletta para simbolizar la imponente ciudad de Troya.

 

Otra de las muy conocidas películas rodadas en Malta es Gladiator,de Ridley Scott,concretamente en Fort Ricasoli,en Kalkara.En él se hizo una réplica del Coliseo de Roma,por lo que gran parte de la película se rodó aquí,ya que las escenas en el coliseo representan una parte muy importante de la película,sobre todo el final.



Una película que fue rodada íntegramente en Malta fue Ágora,de Alejandro Amenábar.Se rodó en Valletta,Fort Ricasoli y Marsaxlokk.Se consiguió lograr una época perfecta de la ciudad de Alejandría de la época.De hecho hoy en día siguen en pie los montajes de la película allí,para deleite de los visitantes.



Y no sólo se han rodado películas aquí,también series y miniseries.Una serie muy de actualidad en los últimos años y probablemente la más famosa en el mundo en la actualidad es Juego de Tronos.Fueron rodadas muchas escenas de la primera temporada;la ciudad de Mdina fue utilizada para representar la capital de los 7 reinos,Desembarco del Rey,y en la Azure Window,en la isla de Gozo se rodaron las escenas de la boda de Khal Drogo y Daenerys Targaryen. Los visitantes pueden explorar el lugar de estas escenas a pie o alquilar un pequeño barco para ver el lugar de rodaje de una de las escenas más importantes de la serie.



En miniseries podemos encontrar El Conde de Montecristo,en el que se rodó en la Torre Santa María,representando el Castillo de If y también se rodó en el fuerte de San Telmo,en Valletta.




La más reciente película famosa que se ha rodado aquí ha sido Guerra Mundial Z,que se estrenó hace unos escasos meses.Las escenas rodadas en Malta representan la parte de la película que transcurre en Tel Aviv,Israel.



Aparte de estos famosos films hay muchos otros rodados aquí como el Expreso de Medianoche,etc.Más de 100 películas han sido rodadas íntegramente o en parte en Malta.

Como pudieron ver ya en el título a Malta podemos llamarla el Hollywood del Mediterráneo,y su fama no hace más que agrandarse y sus idílicos y variados paisajes servirán seguro para una gran cantidad de grandes producciones nuevas en el futuro.
