               ROLEX MIDDLE SEA RACE 2013 


Saturday will start the 34th edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race in Malta departing.The depart is scheduled for the day 19 October at 11:00 a.m. in Valletta.

This race is the most prestigious international event in Malta and thousands of people will be watching the start.The event will be televised live on Maltese Television and will have a huge worldwide audience.

109 yatchs from 18 different countries are going to compete at the 2013 Rolex Middle Sea Race,surparssing the record of last year´s participants.

The duration of the race is 8 days,beginning on day 19 and ending on the 26th with the trophy and awards delivery the same day.

This race was founded in 1968 by the Royal Malta Yatch Club and the Royal Ocean Racing Club.The Rolex Middle Sea Race has an attractive yet hard journey of 606 nautical miles,the output is from the spectacular Grand Harbour of Valletta.

 


Initiate the test vessels along the bastiones of St. Angelo.From there,take a drive north along the eastern coast of Sicily to the Strait of Messina from where you have a magnificient view of Etna.The route continues towards the Aeolian islands and then heads west to the Aegadian islands,subsequently reaching the islands of Lampedusa and Pantelleria.At this point being the return to Malta,through the Comino Channel to end at the port of Marsamxett.
