                Malta: The Island of the sports in Europe

 


The situation Mediterranean of the islands and their calm tides, combined with an annual average temperature of 20 degree, making it a paradise for all kinds of sports. Here you can practice almost all sports for both experts and novices.
Some examples of sports that you can practice:Karting, paintball, climbing, paragliding, golf, tennis, horseriding, bowling, soccer etc. Also the terrain and landscape invite hiking and cycling tours.
 Malta also has an international marathon that it is celebrated on 22,23, 24 November.



                                                                       Landsports

Do you want to train your handicap during all seasons in the year?.
The Royal Malta Golf Club is the ideal setting for relaxing, working on your handicap, or spending time with friends. The RMGC was founded in 1888. One of the founding members was the then Duke of Edinburgh who was serving in Malta. Due to the temperate climate, the18 hole, par 68 course is in excellent condition for all twelve months of the year and is enjoyed on a regular daily basis by locals and visitors.



                                                                      Watersports



The Mediterranean Sea around the Maltese Islands, light blue, is ideal for diving and is highly accessible in almost all areas of the islands. All three islands offer excellent diving and unique experiences as there are reefs, caves and wrecks that make these are some of the most interesting places for diving in the Mediterranean.
For more experienced divers there are several places where archaeological objects, some of the period of the Second World War and others that date back to Roman times.
At many beaches you can rent equipment for sports such as windsurfing and water skiing. As an alternative to snorkeling, you can go underwater photography.Some of the best places to do diving or underwater photography in Malta are this:

 

Dwejra Point:

It is one of the most spectacular dive sites throughout Malta, with deep water (up to 60m), many caves and arches. Among all this there is a 35m tunnel that runs from the inland sea to the open sea, where the bottom drops sharply. This is the perfect site for those looking for abundant marine life.

Comino Caves:
This site has become one of the most preferred by people who like to dive in caves.

HMS Maori, La Valleta, Malta:
South of the Bay of Saint Paul, on the Fort St Elmo, are the remains of the HMS Maori, a ship sunk in World War II, in 1942. Resting on a sand bed at 13-17m of the surface.
