Gozo is an island of the Maltese
archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea.
The island is part of the Southern European country
of Malta; after the island of Malta itself, it is the
second-largest island in the archipelago. Compared to its southeastern
neighbour, Gozo is more rural and known for its scenic hills, which
are featured on its coat of arms.
The Azure Window is a natural
arch in the Maltese island of Gozo featuring a
table-like rock over the sea. It is situated near two other famous natural
landmarks - the Inland Sea, and Dwejra Bay. The stunning geography of the
area was created thousands of years ago when two limestone caves
collapsed. This and the nearby Blue Hole and Inland sea are popular scuba
diving sites.
Culture and traditions
Gozo is also much known for carnival and during that
weekend many Maltese people come all over from Malta to experience Gozo’s
unique carnival especially in the village of Nadur. Many locals dress up in
colourful and also outrageous costumes with the intention of not being
recognised.
Hop-on Hop-off Bus
A hop-on hop-off bus service operates in Gozo. The open
top bus tour of Gozo starts from the harbour of Mġarr. Each tour includes
an audio commentary in 16 languages and each tour takes 45 minutes.
Ramla Bay is located at the bottom of a rich and
fertile valley on the northern side of the island of Gozo.
The beach
is quite wide and sandy. It is a particularly golden-reddish sand which makes
this beach different from all others in Gozo and Malta. Its real Maltese
name is Ir-Ramla il-Ħamra— the Red Sandy Beach. The area around the beach
is quite interesting and provides some very rich historical treasures. Roman
remains lie beneath the sand and the famous Calypso Cave overlooks
the western side of the beach.
Simon Mamo offers many apartments, houses and villa on the island of Gozo for you to enjoy the wonders of the island.
